Terms are in alphabetical order:
- Cassava: A root vegetable and a cheap staple food in Mozambique. See also this page from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture.
- Cem paus: Portuguese slang for “a hundred bucks."
- Duas caras: “Two faces” in Portuguese.
- Kanimambo: “Thank you” in native dialect.
- Kanimambo pela força: “Thanks for the support” in dialect.
- Marrabenta: A form of Mozambican dance music, influenced by Mozambican and Portuguese folk music and western popular music.
- O Pais de Marrabenta: Literally, “the country of Marrabenta”; the reference to Mozambican dance music is probably intended as an ironic contrast to the country’s injustices as described in the rap.
- Passada: A tropical style of music usually accompanied by close dancing.
- Um, dois, tres: “One, two, three” in Portuguese.
- Xiça!: An exclamation, akin to “Damn!”
- Xima: A thick porridge made from cornmeal and water.
