Jesus has called Jerry home. Hallelujah. After years of faithful service in the Lord’s name, Jerry Falwell has been called back to his God’s loving arms. Leaving us only fond memories and a legacy of rightful service. And a few choice quotes. Such as:
On politics: “The idea that religion and politics don’t mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country.”
On 9/11: “God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.”
On the non-Christian Judeo-Christians: “The Jews are returning to their land of unbelief. They are spiritually blind and desperately in need of their Messiah and Savior.”
On higher education: “Textbooks are Soviet propaganda.”
On curiosity: “Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions.”
And on public health: “AIDS is not just God’s punishment for homosexuals; it is God’s punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals.”
Jesus, thanks for giving your faithful servant a richly-deserved siesta. You two have fun now. Don’t send him back anytime soon, y’hear?
